I have been meaning to blog about Lisa and Steve's wedding from a few weeks back, and I finally have some time! Lisa and Steve were married at the Tapestry House in Laporte, Colorado and it was a wonderful night. I'm still editing the reception, but I really, really wanted to get these up for everyone to see. flowers were courtesy of Sharon Millis at Best Day Floral and the dinner and cake came from Babette's Feast, one of her last two weddings before moving back to her native Paris.

Hi everyone!

The Brown family had a great time at their session and were great about moving the session from the CSU Test Gardens to the new atrium at The Lincoln Center in Fort Collins due to TORRENTIAL rain. Wow. As a result, though I think I may have found my new favorite indoor portrait location. What a wonderful family and session.

Also, Many families are looking for portraits to share with family and friends at this time of year, so I am running a special. Until December 31, mini-sessions (30 minutes) are $65 and full sessions (one hour) are $120 instead of $75 and $150, respectively. All sessions come with online hosting and a print credit, plus rights to your images.

Hi everyone! So, I have decided to scrap the old blog style and start afresh... So bear with me as I add things over the next week.

The images above are from a summer wedding that I just LOVED out at Pelican Lakes in Windsor. Kelli and AJ were married just before sunset, so we took advantage of that plus the cloudy sky for the images.

Back from Montana!!

Hi everyone! I spent this past weekend in Bozeman, Montana and had a great time with all my friends there. I really miss Montana... At any rate, I just wanted to do a quick post from my friend Lisa's professional head shot session. She just got her real estate license and it was high time to do some portraits for her and, hey, I got a trip to Montana out of the deal. :-)

There are just two or three wedding slots open between now and the end of september, so if you are still needing a photographer for your big day, be in touch. I offer short-notice booking discounts for wedding commissions secured within 12 weeks of your big day. I am also gearing up for fall family portrait season as well as engagement sessions to capture that fall color in your images. Autism Moms Portrait Shoot

Hi everyone. First, allow me to introduce my wonderful son Thomas, who is my oldest child and who happens to have an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

I saw a video today on the Autism Mothers blog (see link above) about portrait shoots being done all over the world for moms of ASD kids. The idea behind the shoots is to remind these moms that we are beautiful women in addition to being amazing mothers and the absolute best advocates for our children. Plus, this type of shoot would give local ASD mothers a chance to meet each other and hopefully make some lasting connections. As a mother of a child on the Autism Spectrum and as a professional photographer, I would love to organize a portrait shoot in Northern Colorado for moms of ASD kids, as a gift to you from me. If you are interested, please email me or reply to this post. Also, if you see this post and are a hair/makeup artist and would be interested in donating your time and expertise to these wonderful women for the shoot, please drop me a line.

I am not sure when I will be able to get the shoot set up, it really depends on how many interested moms we have and if any hair and makeup professionals want to get involved, but if you are interested in this in ANY way, either in being in the images themselves (and I may join you for a few, this is why I have a remote shutter release ;-), or if you want to assist with the shoot, please be in touch.

Wedding Season is officially here!

It has been a BUSY week at Picture This Photography! I have been shooting the new Microsoft Bing Headquarters in Boulder and then turned around the very next day to photograph my first wedding of the "wedding season" in Colorado! Not to mention editing, album layout, messing around with the new lens, etc. etc. :-)

So, anyway, the whole point of today's blog post is simply to share a few images from Britney and Tyson's wedding yesterday in Fort Collins. They were married at Mountain View Church downtown, and it is one of the loveliest churches I have shot in. It's over 100 years old and an "in the round" layout with huge stained glass windows. The getaway car was a 1933 Rolls Royce (photos coming), and we did the second half of the bride and groom images at the beautiful old house where Tyson proposed, built the same year as the car made its debut. The reception was at the Drake Centre, and we had PIES. :-)~

So, enjoy, and I will be back soon. :-)

Spring is the time for portraits!

Hello again! I just wanted to take a moment and share the first image from Rachel and Garrett's maternity session yesterday morning. They were really patient and accommodating given that it was BLIZZARDING, but we all wanted to get this done as they enter the final few weeks of Rachel's pregnancy and are getting busier by the minute.

Spring is the ideal time to schedule family, baby, and maternity portraits, as well as for you high school juniors out there to start thinking about graduation portraits. I have all sorts of portrait openings in the next several weeks and throughout what promises to be an exciting and rewarding summer full of weddings!

Thinking I might get back to that picture of the day thing...

Back from Hawaii and blogging again!!

Hello my fans!! Don't be jealous, but the above photo is of the hotel I and my family stayed in on the Big Island of Hawaii in March. :-) I will be uploading photos galore to my facebook page in the next few days, so if you are interested in seeing travel photography from a Picture This POV, do be sure to look.

In the meantime, we do have a winner in the Stella & Dot earring giveaway. Did you know Stella and Dot was featured in the March issue of SELF magazine? Very wonderful jewelry. If the major lens purchase wasn't upcoming... :-)

At any rate, this is just a quick entry to tell you that I have not actually fallen off the face of the earth, just very busy recently with school, travel, bridal shows, you name it. "Wedding Season" is just around the corder and I do have a couple of openings left over the course of the summer... But not many. And then I will turn my attention to booking October - January, my next wedding availability.

In the meantime, if you know couples who are getting married this summer and need a photographer yet, send them my way!! Also, I am thinking a blog contest might be in order, but I need more fans before then, so tell all your friends. ;-)

I have completely revamped my wedding packages. I am very excited about the changes. Couples will receive all kinds of goodies in their packages, which make them a great deal. Also, I have added a second photographer option!

Here are the packages:

EXPERIENCE: WEDDINGS

My unique documentary wedding day photography combines with beautiful "magazine-style" bride and groom images, creating memories to last a lifetime.

All wedding packages include high-resolution digital negatives with a personal-use release, three months' online hosting and print ordering, and a hard-cover printed proof book, plus a Beloved engagement portrait session with online hosting, high-resolution digital negatives, and an 8x10 print. Formal wedding day portraits are available on request.

Full-day photography may be unlimited hours on the day OR eight hours on the day and a two hour session chosen from: the rehearsal and dinner, Bridal Modeling, Trash the Dress, or a Beloved Day After/Anniversary photo session for the bride and groom.

Prices listed are for one or two photographers, and each package's additional products are described here:

Three Hours, $1000 one photog/$1200 two

Includes in addition: one 8x10" print and EITHER an 8x8" 20-image press-printed album OR a $75 print credit.

Half Day, Up to six hours: $1900 one photog/$2400 two

Includes in addtion: two 8x10" prints, two 4x6" 8-image accordion memory books, and EITHER a 10x10" 20-image press-printed album OR a $150 print credit.

Full Day, Unlimited hours: $2900 one photographer/$3600 two

Includes in addition: two 8x10" prints, one 11x14" canvas print OR one 11x14" metal print, two 4x6" 8-image accordion books, and EITHER a 10x10" 24-image press-printed album OR a $200 print credit.

You may also book a la carte:

Me: $250 per hour

Second photographer: $100 per hour, added to a custom/a la carte shoot

A la carte prices include ONLY shoot time and the digital files, no print products. So, you save money if you book a package. :-)

Full weekend and destination weddings are definitely available (you'd be amazed at how affordable destination wedding photography can be) and are priced at consultation.

Portrait packages have also changed a little:

Regular portraits (family/kids/grads/maternity/new baby): $150

Price includes a one-hour session, online hosting at a password-protected site, and your choice of six units (mix and match), such as one 8x10, two 5x7s, four 4x6s, eight wallets, one 11x14 (counts as two units) or one retouched high-resolution digital file with a release (clients generally go for this option and choose six digital files, or choose a selection of prints and then a high-res digital file of their favorite image).

Senior/Grad portrait sessions generally run two hours and include more products; please contact me for details.

You may also purchase all your digital files with a release for an affordable and additional fee.

Boudoir Photography: $350

Price includes a two-hour session, a 5x5" hard-cover 20-image "pillow book" bound in silk, and all your high-resolution negatives with a release.

Beloved Photography: $200

Beloved photography is designed for couples in any stage of their relationship. The price includes a consultation, a one-hour session, an 8x10" print, and your high-resolution digital images with a release, plus online hosting at a password-protected site. Beloved photography is also an a la carte engagement session for couples considering that.

Brides Colorado Fall 2010 Hot List!!

Well, hi!

I was given some good news this summer about my photography and I have just seen it with my own eyes so I know it's true:

Brides Colorado Magazine has put me on the Photography Hot List for fall 2010. :-)

This is HUGE. I had thought there were going to be 20 or so of us, but there are only six photgraphers and one (fantastic) videographer listed. (My good friend and colleague Tom Pehrson.)

I'm listed on page 138, in case you were wondering or wanted to go look or anything along those lines. I've gotten to the point where I'm showing ANYONE who will hold still for more than 60 seconds, so you may see it yet. :-)

I'm really excited about this and can't wait to share my passion for wedding photography!

I may have said this before, and I am certainly going to say it again now: I love my clients. I have the best clients in the world, as far as I am concerned, and I want to give all of them 110% of my time, effort, and talent. My sincerest goal with my wedding photography is for the couples who choose me to be happy with their images; for them to love my work and to look at their photos and remember every detail of their special day. So, when I get an email nearly two years after the wedding telling me that my images are being treasured, it reminds me again why I do what I do. :-)

Once again, I want to pass along my wedding specials, available through the end of 2010:

Three hours, $750

Prices are usually $1000/$2000/$3000 respectively. I understand how important it is to keep a wedding budget under control, but I also want to make sure that you don't have to skimp on photography for one of the biggest days of your life. ...or, support your local CSA. I am honored to be working with Happy Hearts Farm in northwest Fort Collins as of today. I will be working closely with them on promotional and web site photography, specifically to support their amazing "Feeding the Families" program, which provides local low-income families with the best seasonal, organic produce. I will also be documenting the co-op work on their beautiful farm at all times of day and throughout the primary growing season, showing the owners' philosophy that "many hands make light work." I am telling you, this place is the very definition of paradise. It's so beautiful, so peaceful, and then you walk in and see people caring for the plants, stocking the milk and eggs cooler, and just really enjoying learning about organic farming and it's impossible not to feel grateful that they have been providing the best organic produce for 27 years. They also have an apprenticeship program in which they train the next generation of organic farmers! Did I mention how beautiful the soil is? Dark and rich and from what I saw, everything that comes out of it is beautiful.

They also host weddings on site and I would be hard-pressed to think of a more peaceful location in which to get married.

To celebrate this new friendship, I would like to extend the same specials I have mentioned previously on my blog:

I wanted to run my Winter Boudoir Special again because I have been having so much fun with this. So:

A two-hour location shoot, all high-resolution retouched digital images to you with a personal use release, and a 20-image, 5x5" Little Black Book can all be yours for $250 instead of the $350 I usually ask for a boudoir shoot.

I'll run this special through the end of June at least. :-)

In addition, I am now offering Diva Parties, as I mentioned in an earlier post. These are for you and up to seven of your friends (minimum four ladies total, maximum eight) and include a 30-minute shoot, 12 high-resolution retouched digital images as above, and a 5x7" print for a flat fee. The hostess is FREE, because she is graciously providing the location and refreshments, and receives all of the above as well as a GC for 30% off a full shoot with me. All paying guests may apply their fee toward a full shoot as well.

Diva Parties by Picture This Photography!!

LADIES: Picture This Photography is now offering Diva Parties! Diva Parties are boudoir photography sessions for you and up to seven of your friends. I will do 30-minute mini-sessions for you and up to seven of your friends. The party fee per person is $125 per guest if there are four women or fewer, and $100 per guest if there are five - eight women at the Diva Party. The hostess is ALWAYS free! What a GREAT idea for any group of ladies, but can you think of a more fun thing for a Bachelorette Party?

Everyone gets:

- a 30-minute boudoir mini-session
- 12 retouched high-resolution images with a personal use release
- a 5x7" print

Guests may use their session fee as a credit toward a full session with me (normally $350).

Because the hostess is FREE, she receives a gift certificate for 30% off a full session with me as well as another gift for hosting the party. If any of the party guests wish to book their OWN party with me, they will receive the same gift. :-)

The hostess provides the location and refreshments and all guests must sign releases and be over 18 years old or over 21 if alcohol is to be served.

Hi there! Recently, I was asked by my good friends out at the Tapestry House in Laporte, Colorado to help out with some wedding specials they are running for summer 2010 and elopements in general (those are anytime, and way better than running down to the courthouse, I mean, have you SEEN this place? wow...). I was only too happy to put together some special pricing for them! So here it is:

Summer Mornings:

The Tapestry House has several prime morning openings this summer. Morning weddings at the Tapestry House are absolutely spectacular. It's not too hot in the morning, the grounds are lush and pretty, the house is cool, and if you book their special package, you also get some fine, fine brunch food from Michael and his top-notch staff over at Behind the Scenes Catering as well as a professional DJ and a non-denominational minister to officiate. All package details are available on their site, which is over there -> in my right margin. My add-on pricing for this is:

Four Hours (normally three, but I always add an extra hour for them): $750
Half Day (seven hours, again, always a complimentary extra hour out there): $1500
Full Day (unlimited time): $2000

All packages include: an engagement session with an 8x10" print, all wedding and engagement photos, fully edited, on high-resolution data DVDs with a personal-use release, three months' online hosting for both sets of images, and a bound proof book for the wedding images.

For Elopements:

All elopement packages at the Tapestry House are up to two hours on site, no rehearsal, no more than 10 guests, and you must book within 30 days of your wedding date. The Tapestry House package includes use of the site and a non-denominational ordained minister to officiate. If you haven't seen photos of the Tapestry House, I urge you to go look at their site if you are considering eloping. Getting married on the grounds of an historic home in Northern Colorado is much better than going to the courthouse, in my opinion. Much better. The Tapestry House is a romantic and beautiful setting in which to celebrate your love for each other. Better lighting, too. ;-)

Two hours: $400
One hour: $250

This includes all images, fully edited, on a high-resolution Data DVD with a personal-use release, three months' online hosting, and an 8x10" print.

And FINALLY:

I know for a fact that the Tapestry House staff still has the evening of April 24 available, as well as the evenings of May 1, 9, and 14, so if you are thinking about getting married soon, and had maybe considered them to be out of your price range, I promise you that they are running amazing specials for those days. Here is the photo of the day! In a departure from wedding images, I have decided to post something from my Lifestyle Baby and Family photography work. These two lovelies grace the lives of some dear friends who live way too far away. I met up with them while in Las Vegas for the WPPI convention last week and was able to do a family shoot. As in, was doing it right now a week ago. What a pleasure! The girls are my de facto/surrogate nieces and I could not be happier about that (I'm "Auntie Lynette," :-) yay!). So, if anyone out there is interested in family photography in this style rather than wedding images, I'm there for you.

To reiterate the wedding giveaway: I am giving away a HALF-PRICE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY PACKAGE. It's the picture this photography photo of the day! This is Crystal and Tim at their December wedding at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado. I had gone to Dallas to shoot a wedding in early December, and while I was there, did their engagement photos. Two weeks later, we were all back together for their vintage Hollywood style wedding mere days before Christmas. How romantic... And what an incredible experience for everyone there.

I want to remind everyone that I am giving away a half-price wedding photography package! You get everything you see under my EXPERIENCE: WEDDINGS heading on my web site, it's just that it's going to be half-price. WPPI 2010 may very well have changed my life...

Hi!!! I am FINALLY back. Until yesterday, I was at the WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International, of which I am a member) 2010 Conference and Trade Show (drooooool...) in actually not-all-that-sunny Las Vegas, Nevada. I had intended to update my blog whilst there, but I am telling you, there was NO time! None! I was in class from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. with breaks in the middle to hit the trade show and network with my colleagues. Nights involved dinners with colleagues, invite-only parties, and in one case, a memorable midnight-to-3 a.m. shoot on the Strip, starting at Bellagio and working our way back to our digs at the Signature at MGM. (Penthouse Suite, I am sooo spoiled...) I am ALREADY making plans to go next year! I learned SO much, not just photography ideas and technique, but also workflow, business and family balance, boudoir photography shooting and marketing, business paradigms, and anything else I could soak up.

Some of the amazing photographers I either saw, learned from, or actually met one-on-one or sometimes all of the above included: Doug Gordon, Gary Fong, Joe Buissink, Kay Eskridge, the incomparable Dane Sanders, the amazing Jesh de Rox, Jerry Ghionis, Kenny Kim, Yervant, Jim Garner, and many more. My only regrets? Missing Kevin Kubota's studio management presentation (head-smacker, there), missing Marcus Bell's wedding from start (hiring consultation) to finish (album delivery) presentation, and somehow not at least running into Bambi Cantrell (how I managed to miss her entirely, I'll never know). I was also able to spend an evening with my best friend from college and then a whole day at her house in North Las Vegas visiting with her and her incredible family. :-) Embarrassing college video aside... Cough...

I will be carrying forward everything I learned to take Picture This Photography to the next level. Some things to look forward to: a revamped web site (courtesy of ImageQuix, I won a BRAND NEW SITE, not kidding. This made for a heavier suitcase on the way home, ha ha...), GraphiStudio wedding albums, new image hosting, completely re-imagined couples and family imaging, magazine-style wedding photography, and an all-in commitment from yours truly to be the absolute best and most dedicated photographer around.

Edgewater Pavilion Bridal Show!

Well, hello, everyone! It's been far too long since my last post. I wanted to once again tell all of you how much I enjoyed the Tapestry House Bridal Show. So much, in fact, that I will be doing another small, exclusive show at the Edgewater Pavilion in Windsor, Colorado on March 6. The show is from 1 - 4 p.m. and I would love to see you there! There will be all sorts of goodies, and I don't just mean more Bridal Show specials from me. Stop by for strolling models showing off the most beautiful gowns, prize drawings (including an AMAZING photography deal from yours truly, still in the works), and yummy appetizers, as well as ideas from the finest vendors in Northern Colorado. Starry Nights and Twinkle Lights bridal show a raging success!

Hi everyone! I spent a wonderful day and evening yesterday at the Tapestry House in Laporte, Colorado for their annual "Starry Nights and Twinkle Lights" bridal show. What a great time! I was able to meet with so many wonderful couples, and some of their parents and their flocks of bridesmaids and some future grooms who looked like deer in the headlights. :-)I was also able to connect with many great vendors, old and new to the area, and was placed right next to Scott Hittelman of "Lighting and Design by Scott," a custom lighting designer out of Denver. (www.lightinganddesignbyscott.com) End result: I got the LED sparkle lighting on the wall behind my booth! Worked well with my Rock and Roll Bride wedding and trash the dress photography. :-) Look over there for a photo of my fantastic booth!

I was able to show the work that has been featured on Rock 'n Roll Bride and in the Denver Photography Examiner as well as some images that were featured on The Knot: Real Weddings. All in all, a great night.

So, I want to pass along some wedding and boudoir pricing specials from the show that I am happy to offer to anyone who is reading my blog IF you find me before Valentine's Day. But you HAVE to find me before Valentine's Day. Here they are:

Hi and welcome to Picture This Photography in Fort Collins, Colorado!

This is my first "official" blog entry, although I have been a facebook and twitter presence for a while now, and I would love it if you were to look me up there! Bear with me, here. I'm still trying to figure out all the ins and outs of blogging...

Here's a little bit about me:

I am a wedding, portrait, and editorial photographer based in Fort Collins, Colorado. I also serve Loveland, Boulder, Denver, Estes Park, and the Front Range for weddings, portraits, events, and commercial work, and will travel to the rest of Colorado, all over the Rocky Mountain region, and to any other destination that strikes your fancy for your wedding photography.

I specialize in photojournalistic wedding images, and have received kudos aplenty for my unique and romantic approach to wedding imagery and for my fresh and fun portrait work. I have also done commercial work for The Stonehouse Grille in Fort Collins, as well as for Lambspun of Colorado, The City of Fort Collins/ Martinez Farm, By Design Wedding Florals, and charity work for Fort Collins Preschool. I am an honors graduate of Gonzaga University and received the highest score for a student portfolio given to that point. I smelled like fixer for an entire academic year. I was the first assistant on a shoot for the sadly now-defunct LIFE magazine. My work will be featured on the cover of the upcoming winter issue of Get Born magazine. My Trash the Dress work was recently featured on the national wedding blog "Rock 'n Roll Bride" and I've been meaning to pester "Style Me Pretty" about a an engagement shoot of mine done in Dallas, Texas (see? I travel...). My work has been included on The Knot's "Real Weddings" online feature. I am a member of WPPI, the largest professional photography association in the world. I am proud to offer my services to Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep.

Phew! That's a lot of stuff! I do have other things going on. I am married to my college sweetheart and am a devoted mother to our two beautiful children. I live in north Fort Collins and I LOVE it here. I knit. I read, like, a lot. I volunteer at my kids' fantastic school. I make great sugar cookies. I have two cantankerous old boy cats. I'm a Zag and support my alma mater (Gonzaga) every year in the NCAA tournament, even when they lose. :-( I am originally from Montana, but was born in England. I have the coolest pirate hat ever. Bored yet? I hope not.
